Mercedes Helnwein, is an artist, writer and filmmaker whose distinctive eerie style focuses almost entirely on female subjects. She's one of our absolute all time favourites. We love her so much, that when Violet began, we asked her if she would do pencil drawings of our contributors for each issue, which she still does to this day. She interviewed her friend artist Alex Prager in issue 9 and photographed director, Leigh Janiak in issue 4 of Violet Book.
